In his new book “Twelve Foundation Stones of the Scriptures” (published by AuthorHouse) Elmer Mulhausen offers both inspirational poetry as well as an analysis of Scripture he hopes will be simple and straightforward enough to help people shed their apprehensions about studying the Bible.

Mulhausen’s primary goal with “Twelve Foundation Stones of the Scriptures” was to simplify the Bible. He believes that all people should have the opportunity to formulate their own ideas, connections and understanding of the Bible, and he hopes his book guides people who may have been intimidated by the Bible to be confident about the messages in it.

An excerpt from “Twelve Foundation Stones of the Scriptures”:

“To truly love means a Christian love that can be willed. We can will ourselves to love even those we do not like. We can love the unlovely. That is our Lord’s command (Luke 6:20 27-36). When Christians concentrate on love, Christianity will be viewed as a joy and a positive rather than a negative. When we were born again, our bodies became dwelling places for the Holy Spirit. Love is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. Joy is also a fruit of the Holy Spirit.”

Mulhausen writes for laymen rather than for scholars. He hopes his analysis of the Bible will offer readers of all backgrounds a roadmap to studying and understanding the Scriptures. His ideas are broad and sweeping rather than centered on minute details, helping readers connect to the messages in the Bible.

“There is a general curiosity about the Bible,” he says, “but most people do not study it because it seems too long and too complicated.” He hopes “Twelve Foundation Stones of the Scriptures” demystifies the Bible and makes it more approachable to people.
