“Everybody has a story,” Greene says. “Life is not like the fairytales or romance movies. Life is not easy and love is even harder.”

A young girl learns about the cruelty of life and is forced at an early age to look out for herself in “How Did I Get Here? I Find Myself at a Crossroad” (published by iUniverse), Michele Greene’s candid new novel.

Born and raised in Cleveland, Michele was raised in two households: her grandmother’s and her stepfather’s. She experienced sexual abuse at one and witnessed domestic abuse at the other.

As she grew into a young woman branching out on her own, Michele began the search for a better life. Freeing herself from the shackles of sexual abuse, she became hopeful that she would one day find true love. Her journey turned out to be filled with heartbreak, betrayal, danger and disappointments.

Greene has no doubt that her story is relevant in today’s society. She writes:

“It speaks of things that society is now openly discussing. It shows how children will hold things in that happen to them and parents need to find a way to communicate with them where they feel safe and comfortable enough to tell them the bad as well as the good. Children have a way of saying everything is alright and there’s no tell-tale signs of wrongdoing, parents have to keep looking and pay attention to any change in them, no matter how small.”

“Everybody has a story,” Greene says. “Life is not like the fairytales or romance movies. Life is not easy and love is even harder.”
