ABERDEEN, Scotland – In her debut romantic suspense novel “Orinocco's True Love” (published by AuthorHouse), author Frances Ekwue weaves an intricate tale of love, kidnapping, betrayal and more that spans two continents.
Orinocco Mackintosh is engaged to be married to Jonathan Revoltet, a pompous man she dreads marrying. But when she is kidnapped by the charming and roguish Jake Meytiêre–Thurston, her situation changes. Soon, Orinocco falls in love with her kidnapper – an act that will have dangerous consequences when she is reunited with her fiancé.
An excerpt from “Orinocco’s True Love”:
“‘You have a life? What? Your life is with me and I don’t regret taking your kidnapper in.’
‘It’s different now. I want you to let him go.’
‘Why? Say, have you put on some weight?”
‘Ok, first of all, don’t be a jackass, Jonathan. And secondly, just let him go, as a favour to me.’
‘Why should you want that favour?’
‘Because he’s my husband. I don’t want my husband in jail.’
‘What?’ Jonathan whispered, looking at my hand. He saw the different rings on my finger and grabbed my hand. ‘This isn’t the ring I gave you!’
‘Neither is this!’ I said, pulling my hand away and showing him the gold wedding band. ‘Nor this!’ I continued, pulling my top up and showing him my little bump.”
Ekwue has written this novel to entertain, but it also offers a powerful message. “In a society where the young generation is deficient in perseverance, the book teaches all to be more determined and positive,” she says.
