Coast Dental is pleased to announce its re-grand opening on Thursday, September 13th at Fort Hood on 761st Tank Battalion Avenue, across from the Fort Hood post office. The freshly renovated Fort Hood office re-opens with a welcoming Dental Care logo at the Coast Dental sign.

Previously the dental office, located at the same location, had been named SmileCare. The re-branding of Coast Dental follows the purchase last year of Dental Technology, Inc., operating as SmileCare at Fort Hood, Texas and California. Coasts Dental operates over 115 dental practices in Florida and Georgia and also has practices in Nevada operating as Nevada Dental Associates. Coast Dental is proud to serve hundreds of families of active and retired military on base at Fort Hood. The re-grand opening coincides with the implementation of a new and advanced laser technology allowing patients to see more specialized soft-tissue surgery, periodontal treatment and laser whitening procedures that will make for a more comfortable visit.

The Fort Hood office offers dental exams, cleanings, fillings, crowns, bridges, dentures, partials, teeth whitening, bonding, impact restoration and root canals. In addition to general dentistry, Coast Dental Fort Hood has many specialty services including periodontistry, endodontistry, pedodontistry, orthodontistry and oral surgery. Several of the specialists at Coast Dental are active military including pedodontist Major Tyrus Hatcher, periodontist Major John Decker and oral surgeon Major David Beltran. Endodontist Colonel Craig Torres retired from the military at the end of July, and he continues to practice at Coast Dental. Non-military specialists include orthodontists Blair Barnett and Sarah Jovanovski as well as periodontists Siddharth "Sid" Gupta and John Decker.

One of those who is coordinating care with the specialists on staff is general dentist Major Paul Wang who knows most of the military doctors very well having either gone to school with them or worked with them previously. In emphasizing prevention, Dr. Wang uses Identafi, a multispectral imaging device for detecting oral cancer, which is the sixth deadliest form of cancer and is increasing. As a general dentist, Dr. Wang says, “I see a little bit of everything.” He credits the Coast Dental staff with making the working environment pleasant and free of stress, and he says it would be a top priority to consider staying with Coast Dental when he retires from the military. Currently, he balances his military duties with practice at Coast Dental by working there every Saturday. Other general dentists practice during the week including Tyler Myser and David Fang.
