The Ellis Hotel has recently partnered with the Global Soap Project. As a supporter of this charitable organization, the Ellis Hotel will collect discarded soap bars from its 127-room boutique hotel in Atlanta and ship them directly to the Global Soap Project warehouse in the nearby suburb of Norcross, Georgia. This is an exciting opportunity for the Ellis Hotel to minimize waste while helping families, refugees and disaster victims in underdeveloped countries.

Every day, more than 2.6 million hotel soap bars are thrown in the trash in the United States alone. Thanks to the Global Soap Project and partners in the hospitality industry, millions of unwanted soap bars are collected, reprocessed and sent to people in need. According to the Global Soap Project, 3.4 million children die each year due to preventable hygiene-related illnesses and dysentery.

Discarded soap bars are collected and separated by the hotel and shipped to the Global Soap Project. To ensure purity, reprocessed soap bars from each hotel are melted, filtered and tested for pathogens. Cases of recycled soap bars are shipped to vulnerable populations in 23 countries around the world. One bin of discarded soap bars produces one case of recycled soap. This is enough to supply ten orphans, family members or refugees with soap for one year.

This is an important partnership for the Ellis Hotel because it aligns with the company's sustainable business philosophy. A representative for the Ellis Hotel said, "We are very proud to be a part of this program and hope to support the Global Soap Project for many years."
