"As an entrepreneur myself, I am very excited to meet new talent and innovators at Startup Weekend Seattle and share with them the concept of Equity Based Crowdfunding" - Maurice Lopes, Founder and CEO of EarlyShares

Equity Based Crowdfunding platform EarlyShares will be a gold sponsor of Startup Weekend Seattle, an event taking place from September 14th to the 16th at the Intiman Theatre in Seattle, WA. Startup Weekend is a three days long, hands-on experience where aspiring entrepreneurs can test out their startup ideas, learn from industry speakers and network.

As gold sponsors, EarlyShares will present the 1st place winner of Startup Weekend Seattle the prize of being able to raise $150,000 in Commission-free funding on their platform, equivalent to $15,000 in monetary value. Following the award ceremony there will be a short presentation by EarlyShares' Founder and CEO - Maurice Lopes. He will address attendees with the intention of educating and answering questions about Equity Based Crowdfunding, its risks and advantages, and what this means for entrepreneurs and small businesses.

Additionally, EarlyShares will be hosting its own Free Educational Roadshow Event on Monday September 17th as part of their national initiative to educate the general public about the advantages of Equity Based Crowdfunding. EarlyShares, an innovative start-up itself, is partnering with SURF Incubator, Inc., a resource network for entrepreneurs eager to transform their ideas and startups into successful businesses. Food and beverages will be served.

Equity Based Crowdfunding is the most talked-about part of the April 2012 Congressional JOBS Act (http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/112/hr3606). Regulations under this new legislation will be finalized in early 2013. Prior to the JOBS Act, only accredited investors could invest in start-ups; it was a “closed club”. Today, through portals like EarlyShares.com, there is no one in America who can’t get into the action with as little as $100.
