“I was inspired to learn about nutrition when I realized that I had learned little or nothing useful in medical school,” author Ira Edwards explains. After a long lifetime of listening to, observing and helping sick people, Edwards utilizes the lessons he’s learned throughout his vast career penning his exciting book on nutrition, “Honest Nutrition: A Descent Into The Ocean Of Nutritional Prattle, And Coming Up For Air” (published by Trafford Publishing).
“Honest Nutrition” offers an effective understanding of the field of nutrition presented in a unique format. It differs from a standard nutrition textbook in omitting unnecessary technical details and includes hard-to-find and practical information that many consider to be alternative methods.
When asked about the overall theme of his book, Edwards said simply, “Truth is elusive.” He adds that “it takes much study to counter the myths of ‘evidence-based’ drugs and surgery claimed by organized medicine, and to identify valid nutrition that can prevent and heal diseases.” It is these myths that Edwards hopes to expel and enlighten readers to in “Honest Nutrition.”
Praise for “Honest Nutrition”:
“‘Refreshing’ is not nearly adequate a word to describe Ira Edward’s book, ‘Honest Nutrition.’ ‘Fun’ would be a better description, and that is a real compliment. Movie critic Roger Ebert said that if you saw as many movies as he did, you’d really appreciate the novel ones. Same with nutrition books: there are scads of them, and while most are informative, even the best ones are often dull far. Not so with ‘Honest Nutrition.’”

About the Author
Ira Edwards earned a degree in chemistry, was employed in chemical research for Weyerhaeuser and then studied biochemistry and physiology in medical school at the University of Washington. After a year in a public health lab, a master's degree, teaching certificates and five years of teaching premedical courses at Northwest Nazarene College, he observed over the years an increasing number of people with chronic diseases who were not helped, perhaps even harmed, by the medical system. He felt compelled to lean as much as he could about nutrition
