Parma, Ohio (PRWEB) September 16, 2012
The William N. Skirball Writers Center Stage Series presented by the Cuyahoga County Public Library Foundation in partnership with Cleveland State University continues on Tuesday, October 9th at 7:30 p.m. in the Ohio Theatre at Playhouse Square with Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award winning author Tracy Kidder.
Kidder’s works include The Soul of a New Machine – celebrated for its insight into the world of high-tech corporate America – and Mountains Beyond Mountains, an influential book capturing two global health crises, tuberculosis and AIDS. His latest, Strength in What Remains, won the Christopher Award, the Books for a Better Life Award and was a Finalist for a National Book Critics Circle Award. An inspiring account of one immigrant’s remarkable American journey, Strength in What Remains has been cited as a brilliant testament to the power of second chances.
In conjunction with Kidder’s Writers Center Stage appearance, his book Home Town – a moving behind-the-scenes look at the prototypical American town Northampton, Massachusetts – was selected by the Shaker Heights Centennial Education and Learning Committee for its “Shaker Reads: One Community, One Book” project.
Kidder’s presentation will be followed by a Q&A and book signing. The William N. Skirball Writers Center Stage Series is the signature fundraiser for the Cuyahoga County Public Library Foundation. The funds raised by this series help support Cuyahoga County Public Library, the top-rated large library system in Library Journal’s annual Index of Public Library Services for three consecutive years.
Tickets are $30 each. To purchase tickets, visit http://www.playhousesquare.org/writerscenterstage or call 216.241.6000.
