Wabbit season! Duck season! Need a reason to go to the 7th Annual Sportsman's Feast? How about God, guns, and good food? Cottonwood Creek Baptist Church is holding its 7th annual “Sportsman’s Feast” event on Sunday, September 30th at 4 pm in The Courts on the Allen, TX campus.
Sponsored by Smith Monitoring, a local home security company, this event celebrates Christian fellowship among men as well as the sport of hunting. Cottonwood Creek Baptist Church organizes the Sportsman’s Feast in the church gymnasium with food, live music, raffles, and door prizes. Christian brothers, fathers, hunters, and food-lovers gather every year to join this men’s ministry event. Various exhibits and vendor booths will be open on site, and the event will begin at 4:00 pm. A BBQ, buffet-style dinner will start at 5:00 pm. Tickets are $25 per seat, and $160 to reserve a table.
The evening’s entertainment will include an archery and paintball station for the kids, a trailer from TX Parks & Wildlife, and a live band playing genres from every decade. Feast prizes, auctions, and giveaways will include hunting gear, such as duck calls, pellet rifles, shotguns, sports memorabilia, and a special raffle for a Winchester Model 70 Super Grade 300 WSM Rifle.
Each year, the Sportsman’s Feast hosts several notable guest speakers, such as past speaker General Tommy Franks. This year, the Feast will host special guest Dr. Paige Patterson, an avid big game hunter and the eighth president of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Dr. Patterson’s leadership focuses on “an intense commitment to evangelism and the task of global missions, based on a foundational component of demanding research and rigorous academic preparation.”
Cottonwood Creek Baptist Church was established in 1882 and is located in Allen, TX. The church offers worship services, sports activities, counseling, Bible study, youth programs, preschool services, and even several workshops for all age groups. Affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, Cottonwood Creek is a part of the “largest association of Christian churches in Texas and in America.”
