Rentapen is involved with WCTC’s Internship Program, which is an opportunity for companies to hire students for a period of time in order for the students to gain more workforce experience.
In September, Rentapen welcomed John Ward to their team. Ward is currently attending Waukesha Area Technical College and is expected to graduate in May 2013, with an Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Design. Ward is also an active member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
Ward is starting out as a Tooling Components Logistics Intern. He is in charge of packaging and shipping Rentapen’s line of verstatile components, known as RAPid Tooling Components™, which includes blocks, plates, clamp risers, and shims. Ward also assists employees that work in Rentapen’s factory. With Ward’s background and experience in shipping and receiving this internship comes as a perfect timing for Rentapen Inc, since their shim sales have been escalating over this summer.
“We have had our laser cutting shims at least two shifts for several weeks,” said Susan Straley, President and Owner of Rentapen Inc. “In September Rentapen won three new customers for our RAPid Tooling Components™, which includes shims.”
Once Ward has a handle on shipping and receiving he will begin training with Rentapen’s team of design engineers. Ward will be gaining experience in CAD Drafting and working with Pro/ENGINEER.
“We are so grateful that John has joined our team. John has a great attitude and is flexible, which is really important as we grow. When metal shim sales are up he can help with packaging and processing shim orders. When weld fixture design orders are high, he can shift over to CAD Drafting,” said Straley.
Rentapen’s mission is to provide jobs, training, and opportunities for people who work together to help manufacturers reduce the costs of tooling to make their products.
