Scientific skincare manufacturer Likewise Skincare reacts to an article published for The Hindu that discusses the common causes of a dry complexion with dermatologists Dr. Nidhi Rohtagi and Dr. Murlidhar Rajagopalan.

On September 17th, Likewise Skincare, a manufacturer of facial moisturizer for dry skin, comments on an article published for The Hindu concerning the various factors that contribute to dull, dry skin.

According to the article, “Dry skin characterised by lacklustre skin, which feels stiff and leaves scratch marks, can lead to a host of problems. While excessive dryness can result in cracks and fissures — not to forget bleeding and irritation — it can also end up as itching, eczema, dermatitis or psoriasis; all of which are diseases promoted and worsened by a dry skin” In the article consultant dermatologist Dr. Nidhi Rohtagi explains that numerous factors, from genetics to environmental conditions, can all contribute to dry skin. She explains, “With age, the skin’s capacity to retain moisture decreases.” In addition, the article seeks advice from the Head of the Department of Dermatology at Apollo Hospitals Chennai Dr. Murlidhar Rajagopalan who states that, “While nutrition hardly contributes to dry skin, climatic variations do make a difference.”

Dr. Rajagopalan explains that many people have dry skin due to environmental factors, pollutants, and damaging cosmetics. According to Lisa Shariat, a representative for the scientific skincare company Likewise Skincare, “With winter weather just around the corner, the combination of the colder climate and indoor heating can leave skin dry. Even people with normal complexions may experience dry skin during this time. To keep looking vibrant, I recommend switching to moisturizer with a formula that caters to dry skin.”

“Women with dry skin tend to experience dullness on [their]face. Besides, they might develop lines, wrinkles and dark spots earlier, which may look like premature ageing. However it is not age but the skin’s condition and due maintenance that is of prime consequence,” explains Dr. Rohtagi. The article expresses that oil massages, drinking 10 glasses of water each day, and using humidifiers can improve the look and feel of dry complexions.

Likewise Skincare was founded by board certified dermatologist and President of Likewise, Inc., Dr. Julie Pena. Likewise daily moisturizers are all-in-one but not one-fits-all. Each moisturizer is formulated with skin-balancing toners to work with your unique skin type.
