SALT LAKE CITY, UT (PRWEB) September 17, 2012
UK2 Group today announced it will join, as a founding member, the Internet Infrastructure Coalition (i2Coalition); a group of significant global Internet infrastructure providers and technology firms who support the growth of the Internet. As a global Web hosting services and technology leader, the UK2 Group and associated brands, including UK2.net, 100TB.com, MidPhase, VPS.net, Resell.biz, VI.net, WestHost and others, support the mission and goals of i2Coalition through its innovative products and unique services.
UK2 Group joined forces with many founding and charter members of i2Coalition in an effective effort to promote the growth and openness of the Internet after being confronted by the Stop Online Privacy Act (SOPA) and Protect IP Act (PIPA). After successfully mobilizing, founding members recognized the consistent need for a voice in favor of the Internet’s free-flow of information and commerce; thus the dawn of i2Coalition was formed.
“Supporting those who ‘build the nuts and bolts of the Internet’ is absolutely vital for the continued growth and innovation of the Internet,” said Jeff Hunsaker, the COO of UK2 Group, US Operations. “The last two decades have hinged with countless innovations paving a progressive future unlike anything we’ve experienced before. The large majority of these innovations were brought on by the creative spirit of the Internet; something that cannot be stifled.”
UK2 Group shares a common goal with fellow i2Coalition members: to be the principle voice and leading advocate for the Internet infrastructure industry. The coalition is, in essence, a United Nations equivalent for the Internet infrastructure industry. They develop market-driven standards formed as a group and facilitate public policy, education, and advocacy in a powerful, industry unified, voice. Members of i2Coalition will receive the support and tools they need to be heard in Washington and by their state and local officials.
“We believe the continued expansion of the Internet is vital for fostering economic growth in the U.S.,” said Christian Dawson, co-founder and board chair of i2Coalition. “The i2Coalition will serve as a liaison between its members, the public they serve, and policymakers to ensure that the Internet infrastructure industry continues to harness the full potential it has for creating jobs and driving innovation in the United States.”
The i2Coalition formally marked today as their inaugural date and published a video from Dawson highlighting the mission and goals of the organization; to view the video visit http://www.i2Coalition.com.
