SLCC standout pitcher MaCauley Flint was honored by the Utah-Southern Idaho Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society as the Utah Female Collegiate Athlete of the Year. Flint, a Roy, UT native, will be presented the honor at the 34th annual Dinner of Champions. She is the first Bruin to receive this accolade.
“I knew that the coaching staff had nominated me for an award, but I had no idea how big it was,” said Flint. “This is the most humbling experience—it’s so great to see softball take me to where it has. I’m very blessed to be the one that they chose because there are so many amazing athletes.”
Flint has been a standout player for SLCC and is highly regarded by her coaches and teammates as a humble and charitable leader that sets a positive example. She is a participant in SLCC’s Know Greater Heroes program that promotes nutrition and healthy lifestyles to elementary students in Utah.
“MaCauley is awesome. She has great character, a great personality and really believes in herself,” said SLCC Head Softball Coach Mary Kay Amicone. “She’s truly the real deal, she knows what she needs to get done and she’s a great leader.”
Flint compiled a 27-2 win-loss record last season, with an earned run average of 1.65. She struck out 214 opposing batters en route to leading the Bruins to its second consecutive National Junior College Athletic Association Runner-Up finish.
