December 18, 2009 is a day that author Tim Layman would never forget—the day when his wife Marcy was diagnosed with stage IV inoperable pancreatic cancer. Though doctors told them she only had three to six months left to live, they knew Death Was Not an Option! In a poignant journal, Layman shares how his beloved wife would defy the odds and put up a tremendous battle for over two years.
Deciding that “death was not an option,” Marcy fought for over two years to defeat this insidious disease. During this period, the author became her caregiver and their bond grew stronger than ever. No rock was left unturned. No treatment or drug was left unexplored as an option. They explored any and all options possible.
“We looked for every possible cure and remedy and contacted every major medical university and cancer research instruction in the United States to find answers,” shares Layman.
As readers immerse in Death Was Not an Option!, they will find many answers to a multitude of questions about cancer. This journal will take them on a two-year inspiring, spiritual, medical, nutritional, and emotional journey where a couple finds stronger love and friendship as they searched for a cure for an insidious disease. More importantly, they will be inspired and humbled to get to know one of the most courageous women who fought this deadly disease to the bitter end.

About the Author
As a salesman for most of his adult life, Tim Layman has always been able to tell a good story. When he was thrust into being a caregiver for his lovely bride, he had to learn what caregiving was all about. After the second “Marcy Update,” several people encouraged him to continue to send out reports and even write a book. Writing a book was the last thing on Layman’s mind, as he was more interested in doing the research to find a cure for this insidious disease and prolong his love’s life. Along the way of research and dedication to his duties as a caregiver, the author and his wife found some great humor and enjoyed the time they had together to the fullest.
