New Mexico’s celebration of world music and culture, ‘¡Globalquerque!’, is set once again in and around Albuquerque for the 8th year in a row 4 – 11:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 21, 2012 and 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012. Stages for the varied performances for this event are all over the Albuquerque area including the Albuquerque Journal Theatre and the outdoor Plaza Mayor festival concert stage. ¡Globalquerque! New Mexico’s 8th Annual Celebration Of World Music & Culture Sept. 21 – Sept. 22

Like the past editions of this grand event, ¡Globalquerque! 2012 will present a wide range of artists from around the world including representative artists from New Mexico’s varied musical traditions. A staggered stage schedule will allow people to sample the broadest range of performances in unique settings and ambiances from the intimate Salón Ortega Fountain Courtyard to the state-of-the-art 691-seat Albuquerque Journal Theatre to the outdoor Plaza Mayor festival concert stage. This event is featured on Santa Fe's premier on-line visitor guide SantaFe.com.

Here are some of the confirmed elements of the celebration, with more being added all the time:

  •          Featured Ticketed Event with music on three stages by seventeen performance groups spanning two nights. Acts to be announced as confirmed.

  •     Free Community Day Programming - 10:30 a.m. – 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012 includes: Family-focused entertainment including Music, Street Performers, Instrument Making, International Dance Classes, International Puppetry, NHCC Museum Tour, ¡GlobalCookie! decorating, plus workshops on international music and culture with evening performers.

  •     The Global Village of Craft, Culture & Cuisine featuring a plethora of vendors with an amazing selection of international and New Mexican goods, food and information running during both the free events and the evening ticketed events.

  •     The Global Village stage featuring free day performances and workshops during Saturday’s free community day programming which is a primary feature of this New Mexico community event.
