Street Toyota Scion Wins Second Place at Barbecue Cook-Off in Other Meat Category

The Street Toyota Scion Team placed at the 17th Annual Good Times Celebration Barbecue Cook-Off on Thursday evening with their beef tenderloin dish.

“We had a lot of fun Wednesday and Thursday,” Micah Barfield, Street Toyota Scion Service Manager said. “We spent a lot of time preparing for the event, cooking the food, serving the food and cleaning up, but it was definitely worth it.”

Street Toyota Scion participated in the 17th Annual Good Times Celebration Barbecue Cook-Off hosted by the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, September 13, 2012. The team won second place in the Other Meat Category for their beef tenderloin.

“We are all really proud of the team and for all of their success,” Mike Good, Street Toyota Scion General Manager said. “I was there Thursday afternoon and I was able to taste the food our team made and it was delicious, no wonder they placed so well.”

The Street Toyota Scion team prepared and served spare ribs, baby back ribs, beef tenderloin and brisket at barbecue cook-off on Thursday. The team also participated Wednesday night during media night. They served chicken and had bottles of water for everyone to enjoy.

The team this year consisted of Service Manager, Micah Barfield, Parts Manager, Frank Welling, Service Advisers Josh Welch and Travis Price, Sales Professional, Marshall Newkirk and Marketing Coordinators David Meraz, Luis Muniz and Alyssa Duncan.

The Street Toyota Scion Team will participate in the Canyon Chamber of Commerce Cook-Off later this year as well as in the Bridge’s Cook-Off.

“We cannot wait for the next cook-off,” Barfield said. “The people love the food and we love being out there interacting with the community.”
