Hong Kong based Cross Culture today announces that a recently revamped website generated with Mergemill Pro sees a 5 times rise in its average daily visits.

Cross Culture, creator of Mergemill Pro, the versatile data processing and static website generation tool, today announces that a recently revamped website generated with Mergemill Pro sees a 500% rise in its average daily visits. Cross Culture took up the project believing that turning the original dynamic website into a static one brings the best benefits to the client.

Five months after the new site went online, its Alexa global traffic ranking moved forward to about 340 thousand from over a million. Its average daily visits has increased over 5 times, with more than 60% from search engines. The original dynamic website had very little search engine traffic. The feedback Cross Culture received from their client, christianweekly.net, were all positive. "We expected the website to be easily searchable on the Web, and we find that our articles do appear on Google search results," said Kit Lai, editor of the Chinese Christian news site. "The new publishing system works with more Chinese characters, especially those used solely in Hong Kong, and the new system is more convenient in creating the web pages. Mergemill Pro's greatest strengths in the new system are convenience, speed, and scheduled processing."

"When we started the project, in front of us was an old database of about 25,000 Chinese articles in an outdated text encoding," said Vitus Chak, Managing Director of Cross Culture. "Our important first task was to migrate the data to a new DBMS that supports Unicode, as well as to clean up the data and convert the encoding in the process. Mergemill Pro was our life-saver in this part of the project."

"Our second goal was to build traffic and grow the readership," added Chak. "A key thing we did was to duplicate the articles for readers in Taiwan and Hong Kong and convert the copies to Simplified Chinese which is used in mainland China, thereby doubling the article count. We also incorporated social media share buttons in each article. The buttons are customized by Mergemill Pro as it generates each of the 50,000 articles."

"Our third goal was to automate the entire Chinese web publishing process so that the client is involved as little as possible in creating the web pages. The scheduled autorun feature of Mergemill Pro was designed to meet such needs."
