The Alaskan wilderness has indeed lured many into its inviting but immensely dangerous haven. In fact, according to a news article posted by abcNIGHTLINE, hundreds of people from all over the globe had embarked on a pilgrimage to this place in order to emulate what it was like for Chris McCandless, a 24 year old man who died a slow and painful death in the Alaskan bush. In line with this, a stimulating and suspense-filled book titled “Kodiak” resembles Chris McCandless’ journey as it shares an exhilarating tale of a man who sets forth on a riveting adventure out in the perilous Alaskan wilderness. Written by James Pierpoint, this compelling book is based on the author’s life story. Embellished with his life-long dreams such as panning for gold in Alaska, this fiction creatively reflects one man’s most-prized ambitions and aspirations in life.
In this book, readers will get to meet Mat Grogan, a God-fearing Christian who works as a local oilfield worker. A seemingly ordinary guy, Mat consistently exhibits his insatiable thirst for adventure. After serving some terms in the navy, he went off-shore to explore the other parts of the world. Unbeknownst to him, this decision was going to veer his path to another direction. A hurricane struck the place he was in and the platform on which he was standing collapsed. Nonetheless, the strength of the unwavering human spirit from inside his core allowed him to survive the ordeal.
After which, an interesting series of events followed as a lawsuit settlement had allowed him to live out his ultimate dream, panning for gold in the Alaskan wilderness. As he ventured to fulfill his lifelong fantasy, he came across with a shocking surprise of a lifetime, something that required more amount of fortitude than he had ever mustered in his life. Readers will be excited to find out what awaits him in this remote location where one man is confronted with the hazardous elements of nature.
With an interesting plot and fascinating set of characters, “Kodiak” is an epitome of a “man-versus-nature” conflict where one’s tenacity and endurance is tested and sharpened by the driving forces that are outside his control. Beautifully-written, this exhilarating story will bring out the hidden adventurer from deep within its readers’ hearts.
