Britain’s small business are capable of pulling the UK out of its double-dip recession – but only if they adapt quickly to profound changes in digital marketing methods happening around them. So say leading SEO consultants Millpoint Marketing, who today announce the launch of innovative digital marketing solution SeoMill.
“Small businesses make a massive contribution the British economy, but failure to create quality content is damaging their success,” says Laurence James, Managing Director, Millpoint Marketing. “Changes to the way commercial websites are ranked by the major search engines have changed the way companies are marketed on the Internet. SeoMill is designed around these changes and provides effective online marketing content, allowing entrepreneurs to focus on growing their businesses.”
Recent statistics paint a clear picture of the importance of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to the UK economy. Companies with less than 50 employees make up over 99% of British businesses (1) and employ 46.3% of the UK’s workforce. SMEs also generate 24.9% of UK wealth (2) and employ the majority of Britain’s apprentices (3).
Meanwhile the ability of innovative British businesses to expand the economy is illustrated by companies such as Dyson Group, which has increased its R&D spend by 20% every year since the recession began in 2008. In 2011, Dyson announced sales of over £1bn for the first time. (4)
In the increasingly important online sphere, however, British SMEs face a tough new challenge in the form of Google’s ‘Panda’ and ‘Penguin’ updates. Many commercial websites have all but disappeared from Internet search results following the changes, which introduced a new algorithm for ranking websites that has transformed the landscape of online marketing..
“Post-Panda, businesses who reach the top of search engine results are the ones that consistently create high quality, original content,” says Mr James. “Content production has always been important in growing a strong online presence, but it is now more crucial than ever if you want your business to succeed online. Finding the time and skills to create effective content has become one of the biggest challenges facing small businesses today.”
SeoMill meets this challenge by looking after the production of all digital marketing content for small business customers. Its features include:
- Creation of high quality, search engine optimised, UK-written marketing content on a monthly basis
- Promotion of content on social media, social bookmark services and syndication services
- Search engine optimisation of customers’ existing web pages
- 24-hour access to online statistics that provide clear reporting on ROI
- Competitive pricing, starting at £249 per month
Millpoint’s suite of marketing services for small businesses also includes social media marketing, copywriting and web design.
