Transit Messenger Bag Features work by New York artist PESU

We share a connection with PESU and his incredible works of art” said Dom Martinetti, SLAPPA Chairman.

SLAPPA recently introduced the Transit Messenger Bag, made specifically for laptops, and featuring the ability to customize the bag via an interchangeable flap system. Today SLAPPA announced it is already expanding the quickly popular messenger line, and is collaborating with New York City Hip Hop Painter PESU. The pair are employing social media to empower their followers and anyone else to choose the designs they most want to see come to fruition on SLAPPA’s transit messenger bag. All participants will be entered to win 5 sets of the PESU Limited Edition series.

On SLAPPAs Facebook contest page SLAPPA currently features 10 PESU designed flaps and is considering expanding the roster of choices. It's going to be up to the Facebook community to make the choice of what goes into production.

“We share a connection with Pesu,” said Dom Martinetti, SLAPPA Chairman. “We are extremely proud to house in our showroom PESU’s self appointed ‘masterpiece’, and to have the opportunity to bring more of his artwork out to the public thrills me because I love his work. He has opened up his entire catalog to us – which is great, but also puts us in the impossible position of choosing which artwork to go with. So instead of us choosing, we’re leaving it up to everyone out there.”

Voting started on September 17th and will end on October 22, 2012.

Yushi Naito a.k.a. PESU started his career as a graffiti artist in his home town of Shizuoka located near Mt.Fuji. As a young adult he relocated to Tokyo and continued his work as an artist. Moving to the United States in 2001 PESU spent 3 years in California, where he focused on school, painting and experiencing nature. In 2004 PESU decided to relocate to New York City, since doing so he has had many achievements including winning the Art Battle competition on 3 occasions, appearing on MTV, and working with high profile brands such as NIKE iD, COACH, Lacoste, Anvil, J.Crew and more.

PESU can be seen painting live at Freedom Dance Party in New York City every 2nd and 4th Friday of the month and his work can be viewed at PESUART.com. Several restaurants in New York City feature PESU artwork and murals including the private members only Bohemian, J’s Bar at 137 E. 45th, Club ViVi at 248 E.52nd and Mannahatta at 310 Bowery.

The design principal with all of the M.A.S.K. products centers on the ability to empower customers to change the design of the bag. With the new Transit Messenger, the flap is easily zipped onto and off of the body of the bag, resulting in easy customization at any time. “Over the past two and a half years, SLAPPAs focus has been on giving customers the power to design bags based on their preferences and to also give customers the ability to change the look of their bag at any time,” said SLAPPA Marketing Director Cris Bremner. The Transit Messenger Bag is now the third design in the line of M.A.S.K. products that includes; the KIKEN a laptop shoulder bag, the original M.A.S.K. laptop backpack and now the all new Transit Messenger Bag.
The custom-build Transit Messenger bag launched with 4 unique flap designs; Tokyo Subway Map, NYC Subway Map, Classic ‘57 Taxi and a custom mural design done by artist PESU. Now SLAPPA is working with PESU to add 2 additional flaps to the already popular line of messenger bags.

The Transit Messenger bag is roomy, and offers a dedicated laptop compartment that easily fits laptops up to 17 inches. The laptop compartment is accessed at the back of the bag, no need to lift a flap to access your computer, and features super-cush foam protection on both sides of the compartment. The laptop is protected from outside elements and gear stored inside too.

The body is made of 1680D Nylon that is water resistant and extremely durable under nearly all conditions. The flaps are PU coated for extra endurance.

Under the flap a roomy main compartment is 2.5 gallons in size, features a zippered mesh pocket 8”W x 5”H. Two 10”W x 10”H pockets and a zippered accessory section with even more pockets are on the found on the exterior just under the flap for added convenience. The 6 inch flat padded base design allows you to load the bag up when needed. Two self-locking buckle closures and hook n loop strips on the flap provide added security on the flap.
