Camden, New Jersey (PRWEB) September 17, 2012
Lourdes Health System announced today that it has entered into a joint venture partnership with Centennial Surgery Center, a nationally ranked, physician-owned outpatient facility located in Voorhees, New Jersey. The partnership will help Lourdes meet the growing demand for outpatient surgery among its expanding patient base.
As a multi-specialty center, Centennial Surgery Center, which serves approximately 11,000 patients annually, offers a diverse range of specialty services including gastroenterology, colonoscopy screening, colon and rectal surgery, general surgery, hand surgery, orthopedic surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery, podiatry, urology and pain management.
The 18,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility includes four surgical suites, two endoscopy suites, two short procedure rooms, supporting patient care areas for pre-and-post procedure care and high-tech surgical and endoscopic equipment.
“We are excited to be partnering with such a dynamic group of physicians and a thriving facility,” said Alexander J. Hatala, President and CEO of Lourdes Health System. “Centennial has a positive reputation in the community as a high-quality, low-cost provider, while Lourdes is always seeking to improve value and convenience for the consumer. We are extremely optimistic about the growth opportunities for the center and look forward to working with our new physician partners to support the center’s reputation and deliver the best outpatient surgical care possible.”
Lourdes currently offers outpatient surgery at its two medical centers: Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center in Camden and Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County in Willingboro. The merger with Centennial will allow Lourdes to expand, providing a convenient, non-hospital based site for surgical services. Along with its planned ambulatory care center on Brace Road in Cherry Hill, Lourdes is strategically increasing its footprint throughout the region. As a result of the merger, Centennial will become part of Lourdes’ integrated continuum of care with over 60 locations providing hospital, ambulatory and physician services.
“Centennial has been a physician-owned facility for many years. It is critical for physicians and hospitals to work more closely together to create a patient-friendly integrated healthcare delivery system. We believe Lourdes has a strong record of partnering with physicians to drive positive change in the system of care,” said Jay Malamut, MD, current Chairman on the Board of Managers at Centennial Surgery Center.
Hatala added, “Our relationship with Centennial marks an important milestone for the center, our physicians and our patients. We look forward to the continued growth and reach of Lourdes services to the patients of southern New Jersey.”
Hatala assures the merger will retain the center’s employees and will not affect patients who are scheduled for surgery at the center. “We intend to make the transition as seamless as possible for the center’s patients, employees and the surgeons and physicians who operate there,” he stated.
Opened in 1999, Centennial Surgery Center has been nationally ranked in the top 99 percent for patient satisfaction by HealthStream Research for ten years and has earned the highest level of accreditation by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care Inc.
