From 5 – 11 p.m., Saturday, September 22, 2012, La Boca Chef/Owner James Campbell Caruso will host a Grand Opening Gala for his new tapas bar, Taberna La Boca. The night will include tapas specials, Spanish beer on tap, all-Iberian wine selections, and Spanish sherry from the barrel, as well as a special performance by Nacha Mendez with her Latin Jazz trio. The event is being held at the new restaurant, which is located at 125 Lincoln Ave., Suite 117, Santa Fe, New Mexico. The restaurant's parent company restaurant, La Boca, is featured on SantaFe.com.
Taberna La Boca, which opened for business on Monday, September 10th is modeled on the tabernas (taverns) frequented by locals throughout Spain. By day, Taberna offers a great escape from the office for espresso, house-made pastries, empanadas, tortilla española, bocadillos, salads, soups & tapas. Taberna la Boca also offers tapa and sandwich platters to take back to the office. By night, Taberna la Boca is a space for gathering with friends, featuring a cozy bar and outdoor patio where guests enjoy, tapas, draft beer, wine, & sherry. Just steps away from La Boca, Taberna accommodates guests when La Boca is full, or those seeking a more casual drinking and dining environment.
Live music is offered at Taberna three nights a week. The restaurant’s entertainment schedule is as follows:
- Mondays ~ Flamenco guitar legend Chuscales, 7-9 p.m.
- Fridays ~ Santa Fe fixture accordionist, Pedro Romero, on the patio 6-8 p.m.
- Saturdays ~ Nacha Mendez Trio 7-9 p.m.
Day or night, Taberna la Boca is available for private events, wine dinners, paella parties, chef's table dinners, wedding receptions. Additionally, Taberna strives to be a locus for education on Spanish sherry, wine & food culture. Cooking demonstrations, sherry seminars and other food and wine events will be hosted regularly in the mid afternoon at Taberna.
Beginning September 22nd, Taberna’s hours will be as follows:
Brunch ~ Saturday/Sunday 9am to 2pm
Lunch ~ daily 10am to 2pm
Dinner ~ nightly 5 to 11pm
