Irvine, California (PRWEB) September 18, 2012
California Southern University has announced that it has been awarded the designation of “Military-Friendly School” for 2013. The designation honors the top 15 percent of colleges and universities—those that do the most to embrace America’s military service members, veterans and spouses as students, maximizing their chances for success.
The honor is bestowed annually by G.I. Jobs magazine—the leading publication for military personnel transitioning back into civilian life. The 2013 list of Military-Friendly Schools was compiled through extensive research and a data-driven survey of more than 12,000 VA-approved schools nationwide. Methodology, criteria, and weighting for the list were developed with the assistance of an academic advisory board consisting of educators from schools across the country and were independently verified by Ernst and Young LLP.
“CalSouthern is proud, honored and humbled to receive the Military-Friendly School designation for the second consecutive year,” says University President Dr. Caroll Ryan. “It’s truly a privilege to give back in whatever way we can to those who’ve served us so honorably, and we’ll continue to work hard to provide our military service members with the degree programs and all the individualized care and support they need to achieve their educational and career goals.”
According to a statement released by G.I. Jobs, the colleges, universities, and trade schools on this year’s list exhibit leading practices in the recruitment and retention of students with military experience and are committed to providing a supportive environment for military students.
