Ty Cobb spent 22 seasons with the Detroit Tigers, the last six as the team's player-manager, and finished his career with the Philadelphia Athletics. Cobb is widely regarded as one of the best players of all time. In 1936, Cobb received the most votes of any player on the inaugural Baseball Hall of Fame ballot. PoliceAuctions.com, a website known for its listings of police auctions and government auctions, will be auctioning a vintage Ty Cobb baseball card. The auction will start on Wednesday September 19th. The vintage card is a 1909 T206 El Principe de Gales American Cigarette Card.
The T206 tobacco card set was issued by the American Tobacco Company and distributed by the company’s sixteen different brands throughout 1909 and ending in 1911, according to Wikipedia.
PoliceAuctions.com will be using their Facebook fan page to promote the auction for the 1909 Ty Cobb card. PoliceAuctions.com fans will be able to view photos for the ball and link back to PoliceAuctions.com to bid.
The auction for the vintage pre-war era baseball card will be a one dollar no reserve auction. This means that if the auction for the baseball card ends at only one dollar than the lucky winner would only pay one dollar, plus shipping and any applicable taxes, for the card.
