DALLAS (PRWEB) September 18, 2012
America ONE Sports (AOS) and the Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today that they have entered into a 3-year agreement for the broadband distribution of CHL games. AOS will begin broadcasting CHL games online this fall via CHL-TV. Subscribers will be able to access games through traditional web browsers on both PC’s and MAC’s, as well as over their iOS (iPhone, iPad) and Android devices. Over 350 games are scheduled to be broadcast this season.
The CHL will be entering its 21st season this fall with the regular season slated to begin on Friday, October 19, 2012. Over 4.2 million fans have attended CHL hockey games over the past two seasons, with more than 130 sell-outs in that same length of time.
“Our partnership with AOS is going to present CHL fans with more access than ever to their favorite teams, athletes, and matchups,” said CHL Commissioner Duane Lewis. “As a league we are very excited about the new partnership and feel it’s going to be the best season yet for CHL-TV.”
“We are pleased to bring CHL action to fans across the country and around the world,” added Bruce LeVine, America ONE Sports Director of Programming. “Broadband telecast distribution on America One Sports will help increase global visibility for CHL in ways that are both efficient and economical, and will provide fans with more ways to view their sport of choice. Adding the opportunity to watch great CHL action on mobile devices can only make that experience better”
The CHL’s 10 franchise teams in 2012-13 are the Allen Americans (TX), Arizona Sundogs, Bloomington Blaze (IL), Denver Cutthroats, Missouri Mavericks, Quad City Mallards (IL), Rapid City Rush (SD), Texas Brahmas, Tulsa Oilers and Wichita Thunder. The St. Charles Chill (MO) will join as an active franchise in the 2013-14 season. During the 2011-2012 season, former CHL players Brian Foster (Florida Panthers), Jordie Benn (Dallas Stars) and Ryan Garbutt (Dallas Stars) made their National Hockey League debuts joining the likes of David Schlemko (Phoenix Coyotes), Keith Aucoin (Washington Capitals), Andrew Desjardins (San Jose Sharks), Joel Martin (New York Islanders) and many other former CHL players that have advanced to play in the NHL. The CHL has also had 69 call-ups to the American Hockey League over the past two seasons.
