Pure Water for the World is once again gaining accolades for their work in Haiti and Honduras with a Northeast regional CLASSY Award.

“Pure Water for the World is doing important and inspiring work, providing sustainable sources of safe drinking water and promoting habits to improve health and sanitation in poor communities in Honduras and Haiti.” - Senator Patrick Leahy

Pure Water for the World, based in Rutland, Vermont is being honored this week for their work bringing safe drinking water to impoverished communities at an awards ceremony in San Diego, California. The Classy Awards recognize excellence in the humanitarian, non-profit field. After a nationwide voting campaign last month, Pure Water for the World was selected as the Northeast Regional winner for Disaster Relief and International Aid for its work in Honduras and Haiti.

“Our message is simple,” said Executive Director Carolyn Meub, “for these communities clean water is like medicine. Safe drinking water and a few basic lifestyle changes can make such a difference in the overall health of children, families and communities. Being selected as the regional Classy winner is an affirmation of the importance of our work and I hope it helps bring further recognition to the challenges so many communities face.”

Important and Inspiring Work

This is not the first time that Pure Water for the World’s work has gained national attention. Just this year they were recognized at a White House reception honoring national Champions of Change. This event inspired Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT) to say this in Pure Water’s honor on the floor of the US Senate:

“Pure Water for the World is doing important and inspiring work, providing sustainable sources of safe drinking water and promoting habits to improve health and sanitation in poor communities in Honduras and Haiti.”
