Mohawk College received a $350,000 donation through Scotiabank’s Bright Futures program, an initiative the bank launched as a way to extend their support to various health, social services, and education causes in communities worldwide.
The contribution will help Mohawk College advance a number of their academic initiatives, including enhancing student experience, adopting sustainability practices, and expanding bursary programs. “Scotiabank is investing in the largest renewal project in Mohawk’s history,” said Rob MacIsaac, President of Mohawk College. “It’s a project aimed at enhancing the quality of education and the overall college experience for the 10,000 or so students that come to [the Fennell] campus.”
A significant portion of Scotiabank’s contribution will also be dedicated to bursary programs.
“We’re pleased to be supporting [bursary programs] as part of our initiative with [Mohawk College].” said Tony Wright, Executive Vice President, Scotiabank. “Through the Scotiabank Bright Futures philanthropic program, we focus on helping to improve access to higher education, which is very, very important because we know it is one of the best ways to transform lives.”
