Bamboo Floors bring value, durability, and style- and are rapidly renewable, and their popularity is growing rapidly.

Recent trends in the hard surface flooring category point to a renewed customer focus in green renewables- even in the fashion flooring industry- according to recent data released by

"The newest sales statistics point to an even distribution in sales between Bamboo Floors and traditional Hardwood Flooring," says ecoHome's Michael Brunner. "This represents a 30% relative increase in the Bamboo Flooring category over 2011 sales statistics."

When asked what contributed to the new trend, Brunner cited a strong consumer desire to buy in a way that is mindful of the environment, new fashion-friendly product introductions, and the dropping cost of strand woven bamboo - a super strong version of the traditional bamboo floor.

"Strand woven bamboo's lower price points certainly are a help", added Brunner. "Dollar for dollar they are more durable than even the exotic hardwoods - and there is a new diversity in finishes that is truly breathtaking."

Since bamboo is made from what is technically a grass - rather than a tree - it is rapidly renewable. Bamboo comes to maturity in the order of a couple of years - rather than a couple of decades - making it an attractive product from an environmentally conscious perspective.
