When Bonnie L. Collins was asked to explain her new memoir “Braving Time” (published by Balboa Press) she stated “This book is at once candid, disturbing, bittersweet and from the heart. It carries the message that we should be conscious of the suffering that exists in the world, provide a hand when we can, and encourage people to never give up.”
“Braving Time” is shown through the eyes of a teenager on the edge of womanhood in Millersburg, Pa. in the mid-to-late 1960s and early 1970s. She must journey through an ever changing world while dealing with the hardships of life.
Collins’ heroine must become resilient to loss, grief and the vulnerability that ensues after each adventure, picking herself up to combat another life challenge. In the end, Bonnie hopes to achieve both her personal goals for life and her journey of self-awareness.
Collins hopes that her memoir will help us “…find and live into our higher self by adhering to what we believe while we embrace our best values finding good and ethical support along the way.”
