Columbus, Ohio (PRWEB) September 20, 2012
Health Care DataWorks, Inc. (HCD), the leading provider of business intelligence solutions and healthcare analytics, is taking a primary role to educate hospital and health systems about Value-based Purchasing.
Value-based Purchasing (VBP) is a program from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), effective October 1, 2012, in which a portion of Medicare reimbursements will be withheld based on how well hospitals perform on 20 core measures, ranging from patient satisfaction to quality of care. The higher the performance scores, the greater the opportunity for hospital and health systems to earn back withheld reimbursements.
On September 25, 2012, at 2 p.m. EST, Health Care DataWorks CEO Detlev H. (Herb) Smaltz will host a free webinar to detail information that will help health systems evaluate their core measures, providing valuable insight as to how to manage scores and get into a stronger position to retain Medicare dollars. HCD will explain how its KnowledgeEdge ™ VBP application can be used to minimize the loss of reimbursements that health systems might experience due to the CMS regulations. Those interested in the informational session can register at http://www.hcdataworks.com/events/VBP-webinar.htm
In addition, Smaltz will deliver a presentation on Value-based Purchasing at the WVHIMSS/WVHFMA fall education and networking conference, The Changing Seasons of Healthcare, to be held September 26-28 at Snowshoe Mountain Resort in West Virginia. Smaltz’s presentation, entitled “Are You Prepared for Value-based Purchasing,” on September 27 at 10:20 a.m. EST is geared to healthcare professionals who are looking to proactively manage the VBP measures to potentially secure more Medicare reimbursements.
