Social music startup Music United, today announced an angel funding round of $500k led by Triumph Capital President, Jack Larson. Music United, a social/music consolidation website, aims to produce an innovative product that will allow musicians to simplify, strengthen and streamline their social media marketing efforts online. The upstart company, led by CEO Jay Gulotta, will use the initial funding to complete development of a BETA version of the Music United website due in November 2012. The Music United BETA will be followed by a consumer 1.0 launch and mobile solutions scheduled for delivery in February of 2013.
“Musicians face the problem of needing to use a myriad of sites and services to maximize their online reach with little time to do so,” stated CEO Jay Gulotta. “Music United will help artists to more effectively promote themselves and reach fans through social media and other online outlets, while saving them time and allowing them to focus on the creation of music.” Mr. Gulotta further stated, “As an aspiring musician I’ve personally experienced the pain of trying to successfully promote myself and reach fans online. It required interacting with from five to ten sites daily and became a full-time job into itself. It’s our goal at Music United to work with the online community to create the go-to tools for streamlined connectivity, time savings and success.”
The service is intended to fill a need gap currently felt by the millions of independent artists and music fans in the US and Canada with plans for international expansion in late 2013. Although based in Chicago, the company is also establishing a presence in Los Angeles, CA and Boston, MA. Music United will begin seeking a Series A round of capital beginning in October ’12.
