Angel Springs, the UK’s longest-established water cooler supplier, has shown its support to several UK charities by donating water for thirsty marathon runners.

The company supplied 10,000 sports cap water bottles to the Carver Wolverhampton Marathon City 2012, and donated a further 2,400 bottles.

Two Angel Springs employees took part in the marathon, in support of Make-A-Wish Foundation UK.

Karina Leach and Andrew Foster raised more than £400 for the charity, dedicated to granting wishes for children battling life-threatening illnesses.

More than 3,000 people took part in or attended the marathon, which took place on Sunday September 2 at West Park, Wolverhampton.

Four events were held that day – a full marathon, a half marathon, a half marathon relay challenge and a 19.4km cycling event.

Andrew Foster took part in the cycling event, coming in 86th place out of the 468 cyclists that took part.

Andrew, who clocked up a time of 42 minutes and 37 seconds, said: “It’s a really good event, and every year more and more people enter – I’ve taken part for the past three years now.
“It shows how determined people can be to stay in shape.”

Andrew also stressed the importance of having plenty to drink when taking part in tough physical challenges, saying: “It’s imperative that people stay hydrated in events like this, as it’s very easy to become quickly dehydrated.”

Karina Leach, who ran in the half marathon, said: “I ran 13.1 miles in three hours and six minutes – it’s by far the hardest physical challenge I’ve ever completed.

“It was all worth it, though, because Make-A-Wish Foundation UK is such an excellent cause.”
