(PRWEB UK) 20 September 2012
A new research journal on how businesses can contribute to peace is launching September 21st to mark the 20th anniversary of the United Nations International Day of Peace.
The publication, Business, Peace and Sustainable Development, is edited by Dr Debbie Haski-Leventhal at Macquarie University in Sydney Australia. It aims to capture academic research and case examples from businesses and governments in exploring why peace is good for business.
Business, Peace and Sustainable Development is published by GSE Research in the UK, and draws on an international advisory board, including representatives from the UN. The publication invites case studies, viewpoints and working papers, as well as traditional academic research papers.
Publisher Claire Jackson at GSE said “This is an area which is not well researched, and where we believe it is important to pull together good practice from businesses, governments and researchers worldwide. There is, we believe, real evidence that peace is good for business, and that businesses can promote peace in conflict and post-conflict areas. We call on scholars, business leaders and public administrators to get involved with us and share research and examples of practice.”
Editor Dr Debbie Haski-Leventhal said “Corporate peace is an idea whose time has come. Through their power, knowledge, money and resources, companies could have a tremendous impact on the peacefulness of our world. Academically, tying business and peace is a relatively new idea. The new journal Business, Peace and Sustainable Development will address this need. We are delighted to launch it on the International Day of Peace with the hope it will not only help develop this academic field, but have genuine social impact on the global community”.
