In June, at the State Bar of Georgia’s 242nd Board of Governors Meeting and 2012 Annual Members’ Meeting, the bar association honored him with an award for having devoted 11 years as a member of the Board of Governors, during which he represented the interests of the Cobb Circuit, Post 7. Andrew was lauded for contributing his talent and energy toward furthering ideals of professionalism and ethics. The award was presented by then-State Bar of Georgia President Kenneth Shigley and current Executive Director Cliff Brashier.
The Board of Governors is the bar’s policy-making body that serves as the voice on various issues for the State Bar of Georgia’s more than 42,000 attorneys, who are all licensed to practice law within the state. The board is typically made up of judges and attorneys who are elected by their colleagues at the local level. These members are responsible for attending board meetings throughout the year at their own expense, and they also volunteer for committees for the bar association.
The State Bar of Georgia aims to “foster among the members of Bar of this State (Georgia) the principles of duty and service to the public; to improve the administration of justice; and to advance the science of law,” according to the association’s website. The State Bar of Georgia upholds strict codes of ethics and discipline, and membership is a requirement for all lawyers who are authorized to practice law in the state. The bar association offers programs that are designed to benefit its members and the general public.

In addition to serving on the State Bar of Georgia’s Board of Governors, Andrew has served as a past president of the state bar association’s Young Lawyers Division and a member of the association’s Executive Committee. He is currently president of the Cobb County Trial Lawyers Association and is a past president of the Cobb County Bar Association.
