Many healthcare providers are renewing their focus on ICD-10 conversion plans now that the mandated compliance date is official. National revenue cycle services company Pyramid Healthcare Solutions (http://www.pyramidhs.com) invites health information management professionals to learn key strategies for successful transition to ICD-10 during the AHIMA Convention in Chicago next month.

On Tuesday, Oct. 2, Angela Carmichael, assistant vice president of coding and auditing for Pyramid Healthcare Solutions, will present “Key Strategies for Ensuring Clinical Revenue Integrity with ICD-10” from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in room E354B at the McCormick Place Convention Center.

“ICD-10 will put a healthcare organization’s coding and clinical documentation system to the ultimate test,” said Carmichael. “While there are many CDI metrics to monitor, the gold standard is Case Mix Index (CMI). Most payers will approach the transition to ICD-10 with the goal of revenue neutrality, which equates to CMI stability, so any dip in CMI after Oct. 1, 2014 will be a critical way to identify clinical documentation weaknesses that translate into critical coding problems.

“This presentation will identify key strategies for successful transition to ICD-10 to ensure clinical data and revenue integrity including case mix preservation,” Carmichael added.

In addition to the presentation, Pyramid Healthcare Solutions invites show attendees to meet its executives at the company’s Booth #1230 to discuss trends in health information management. Senior leaders from Pyramid will be available to offer insights on how the company’s experienced professionals can deliver the tools, talent and consulting services needed to help healthcare providers achieve improved and sustainable financial results, ranging from revenue cycle services and coding services to cancer registry and HIM outsourcing.

AHIMA show attendees also are invited to stop by the Pyramid booth #1230 to enter for a chance to win a 42-inch LCD TV.
