MVP Health Care’s Medicare Advantage plans in the Rochester area top the New York state rankings in the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Medicare Health Insurance Plan Rankings 2012-2013. Overall, MVP’s Rochester area Medicare Advantage plans ranked 13th nationally.

MVP’s Medicare Advantage plans serving eastern and central New York and Vermont ranked number one in Vermont, third in New York and 19th nationally.

“We are pleased and proud of this independent verification of the quality of our Medicare Advantage plans,” said Denise Gonick, MVP’s President of Operations. “Our goal is to offer Medicare Advantage plans that meet members’ individual needs, supporting their well-being with health and wellness programs and services, as well as providing for their health care.”

The NCQA each year ranks health plans using clinical quality measures, patient experience and standards for its accreditation process. NCQA is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to improving health care quality. NCQA accredits and certifies a wide range of health care organizations. It also recognizes clinicians and practices in key areas of performance. NCQA’s Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®) is the most widely used performance measurement tool in health care.

“Our continued high rating is a credit to the MVP coworkers who serve our more than 100,000 Medicare Advantage members and to the physicians and other health care professionals who provide excellent care,” said Patrick Glavey, Executive Vice President of Government Programs for MVP.

MVP’s Medicare Advantage health plan was initially offered in the Greater Rochester area in 1985. It was expanded to other areas of New York beginning in 2006 and was introduced in Vermont last year.
