Leading water cooler supplier Angel Springs has helped the Make-A-Wish Foundation UK by taking part in the Great North Run.
Mark Cross, Angel Springs’ resident ironman who earlier this year completed the Total Warrior challenge, took on the 13.1-mile run on behalf of Make-A-Wish UK.
Angel Springs also got involved, and donated 500 bottles of personalised Make-A-Wish water for runners tackling the Great North Run.
The Run, which goes from Newcastle to South Shields, is the biggest half marathon in the world and regularly attracts around 40,000 participants and televised annually on the BBC.
Mark, who works as a regional sales director for Angel Springs, finished the half-marathon on September 15/16 in just 1 hour and 53 minutes, coming in the top 25% of runners on the day – not a bad result for a first attempt at a half marathon.
“It’s an excellent event with great organisation and brilliant support all along the run,” Mark explained. “The weather wasn’t great and the course was challenging, with lots of hills, however, I exceeded my goal of completing it in less than two hours.
“Make-A-Wish Foundation is such a great charity and I knew I was running for a great cause. Roll on the next challenge!”
Angel Springs’ commercial director, John Murphy, added: “We’ve got some amazing staff at Angel Springs, many of whom regularly donate their time and effort to charity.
“Mark has amazed everyone with his dexterity and fitness: completing the Total Warrior challenge was huge in itself. To complete the Great North Run in such a short time was nothing short of fantastic.”
