Boulder, CO (PRWEB) September 25, 2012

Renewable Choice Energy (http://www.renewablechoice.com) announced today that it has received the 2011 Green Power Supplier of the Year Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The annual Green Power Leadership Awards recognize the country’s leading green power purchasers and suppliers for their commitment and contribution to helping advance the development of the nation’s voluntary green power market. The EPA presented Renewable Choice Energy with the award at an event held in conjunction with the 2012 Renewable Energy Markets Conference in Washington, DC on September 24, 2012.

Renewable Choice Energy was one of only two green power suppliers nationwide to receive the Green Power Supplier of the Year Award. The award recognizes green power providers for outstanding efforts, initiatives and programs that significantly advance the development of renewable energy sources.

“We are proud to receive this prestigious award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency,” said John Powers, Vice President of Business Development for Renewable Choice Energy. “Our mission is to show consumers, businesses, and institutions that they have a choice in how their electricity is generated--it is truly our customers, the green power purchasers, who are making the impact here. By purchasing green power, our customers are helping to build a more sustainable future, and sending a message that choosing clean sources of electricity is a sound business decision and an important step in the fight against climate change.”

Green power is electricity that is generated from environmentally preferable renewable resources, such as wind, solar, geothermal, biogas, biomass and low-impact hydro. These resources generate electricity with a negligible increase in carbon dioxide emissions, while offering a superior environmental profile compared to traditional power generation sources. Green power purchases also support the development of new renewable energy generation sources nationwide.

“EPA is pleased to recognize Renewable Choice Energy with a Green Power Supplier of the Year award for its leadership in offering voluntary renewable energy to customers,” said Gina McCarthy, assistant administrator for EPA’s Office of Air and Radiation. “By accelerating the development of new renewable energy capacity nationwide, Renewable Choice is helping to reduce the carbon footprints of households and businesses across the country.”

Renewable Choice Energy was one of the first in the industry to provide Green-e Energy® certified renewable energy credits/certificates (RECs) to residential and commercial customers and today is a leader in renewable energy sales to homes and businesses across the U.S. In addition to RECs, Renewable Choice also offers a broad complement of carbon management and sustainability solutions to its clients, including green power for LEED® projects, verified emission reductions (carbon offsets), greenhouse gas measurement services, sustainable supply chain engagement, and Mosaic™ carbon accounting and energy management software.
