It is the rare occasion when a company is given the opportunity to participate in history.
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) September 24, 2012
It is the rare occasion when a company is given the opportunity to participate in history. Javelin Logistics has recently been chosen by United Space Alliance to provide logistics ground support for the move of the Space Shuttle Endeavour to its new home at the California Science Center.
Javelin prides itself in providing superior customer service, but when the cargo is a craft that has flown 25 missions to space, including the first to service the Hubble Space Telescope, customer service takes on a whole new dimension.
Javelin Logistics is very proud to participate in the project bringing Endeavour to its permanent home in the Samuel Oschin Air and Space Center in Los Angeles.
The Shuttle will arrive on the 21th of September, and will be housed initially at the United Airlines Hangar at LAX Airport. From there it will be a twelve mile, two day nightly crawl over surface streets in Los Angeles to the California Science Center across from USC. The Shuttle will rest vertically (launch position) adjacent to the solid rocket boosters.
The logistics in moving a craft the size of Endeavour are significant. The Orbiter is 122 feet long, has a wingspan of 78 feet, is 58 feet tall, and weighs 180,000 pounds. Javelin will provide support transportation at LAX as the team prepares Endeavour for the move from LAX to the Samuel Oschin Air and Space Center. Throughout the project Javelin Logistics will offer 24/7 support to the Endeavour team.
