Word Intoxication is a book of modern, edgy, honest and poignant poetry. Writing about life, love and loss, Ruth Johnston has created a wonderfully accessible book of words and images. Ruth writes with minimalist images creating poetry that surprises with instant vision and meaning. A vision that very few will get a moment of in the process of living.

“She is a soul singer, the modern melodies in her poems as clear as the lyrics. It is this honesty I see in her poems. A raw truth that never shies away from the dark, less glamorous side of life; while at the same time celebrating its wonder and bizarreness.” There is a poem for everyone in this book, as affirmed by the numerous comments from people for whom she has put their ‘truth’ in writing." - Laurie Cohen

“Ruth Johnston writes from the heart. Her poetry is honest, poignant and often moving. I enjoyed reading this book very much.” Christine Lindsay Love Magazine and (“Fashion’s Most Wanted” blog):

“Ruth is a sophisticated poet, blogger, spoken word artist. Her poetry is filled with deep, strong emotions and great imagery!” Laura≈ME @VersesInMotion #VIMMedia.

About the Author
Ruth Johnston was born and brought up in Liverpool. A natural rebel, she left school at 15 and became a punk. The Eighties saw her put away her safety pins and move to the warmer climes of Marbella, Spain for several years of sun, fun and decadence. On a visit home to see her parents, who had then retired to Wales, she met her future husband. For the last twenty years Ruth has lived with him and their two sons in the wilds of the Denbigh Moors. Ruth began blogging under the name Wildernesschic (a play on words pronounced "chick") initially musing about life, style and fashion. She discovered she had a talent for expressing her emotions through poetry and photography. Many of her readers commented they should be a book and Word Intoxication was born.
