Informative and insightful, The Responsibilities and Significance of the CONGREGATIO PRO CLERICIS in the Life and Ministry of the Diocesan Clergy exposes the intriguing realities that many priests are facing these days. Written by author Christian Onyems Okwuru, this one of a kind book comprehensively takes readers to explore provocative and controversial issues in ministerial priesthood and hopes to stir awareness amongst its respective leaders.

Walking readers through the many problems which stir a sense of concern in the Catholic Church, Okwuru emphasizes the importance of collegiality and cooperation within the authority structure of the Church. He also outlines other circumstances that have greatly contributed to the seeming discontent of some priests.

Of this unfortunate state of affairs, this study carried out in the light of the apostolic constitution Pastor Bonus of John Paul II aims to address some of those pertinent matters confronting priests in their day to day living. Its many features include the sanctification and ongoing formation of clerics, clerical rights and obligations, the equitable distribution of the clergy in the world and priestly sustenance. It also examines the pastoral leadership of parish priests in their sacramental role as “pater familias” in the community of faith and the challenges confronting pastoral ministry in today’s parishes.

Serving as a call-to-action to better improve the system of the Diocesan Clergy, this literary work will make a significant transformation in a vocation in which many Catholic believers rely on.
