Stereomood, the streaming service that offers curated playlists of independent music based on your mood, has today launched a complete revision of its existing web platform with a range of new functions and social features. The only ‘music-by-mood’ streaming service on the web to solely feature music from independent artists and/or labels, Stereomood offers a free, alternative method of discovering fresh music, hand-curated by staff and community members into mood-specific playlists.

Stereomood aggregates tracks from over 150 blogs and music sites from across the web and curates them into freely accessible playlists. These resulting playlists are tagged with topics or ‘moods’ such as ‘Relax’, ‘Beach Party’, ‘Sunday Morning’ or ‘Night Drive’, offering the perfect accompanying soundtrack from new and independent artists, whatever your activity or mood may be. Community members are also able to submit their own music to the service, and share their customised lists with fellow users. In this way, Stereomood also acts as an innovative channel for up-and-coming musicians to get their music heard first by the kind of taste makers and fans who will most appreciate their sounds.

Features added to the new Stereomood web platform include:

Artist bios with concert listings, powered by Songkick
Social sharing of mood-playlists, through Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest
Redeveloped mood search engine - users are now able to search ‘by mood’ to find the perfect playlist through a dedicated search bar labelled “I feel...”
Editorial boxes across the homepage, including news, blog links, site tips and contests
Numerous stylistic features, such as custom background images, more profile design options

“Our original vision for Stereomood was to create a place for lovers of independent music to find new sounds in a more experiential way, above and beyond searching by genre,” commented Daniele Novaga, Stereomood CEO. “For us, the best music drives your emotions, and what better way to discover music than by the way it makes you feel? We love to give independent artists an opportunity to get their sounds out there, and our new social features should make the word of mouth effect amongst existing and prospective Stereomood users that much more powerful.”

Founded in February 2008 by four former Mtv Italy staff, Stereomood was first created as a side project experiment in how to arrange, listen to and discover new, independent music. Now attracting over one million unique users per month, Stereomood is also available in mobile app format for iOS and Android devices, available for free from the App Store and via Google Play. The company currently employs seven members of staff, operating out of its Rome, Italy headquarters.
Stereomood is backed by the VC fund Innogest Sgr, a consortium of Angels from the Italian Angels for Growth group and the FILAS Investment Fund.
