The Hawthorne was converted from a hotel into a restaurant in 1945. In celebration of the modernization of the Hawthorne, a classic restaurant on the Berlin Turnpike in CT undergoing extensive renovation, they are running a Monday Night Special on their famous Prime Rib Steak, just 99 cents per ounce at a six ounce minimum. This is an enticing offer each Monday evening for anyone who loves a good American meal.

Many patrons still remember the heyday of the Hawthorne restaurant in the early years after it was converted from a hotel into a dining venue back in 1945. "Back in the day, prime rib and lobster were king and we’re gonna hold steadfast to tradition, but at the same time bring cutting edge cuisine to the table at a reasonable price so guests can have a great dining experience." says Michael Diennor, general manager of the Hawthorne in Berlin, Connecticut. The new menu rolled out on September 24th and features their classic fare in addition to reasonably priced contemporary cuisine that gives guests the options they’re looking for in an excellent dining experience.

Renovations at The Hawthorne have been going swimmingly, and they continue to improve the restaurant’s interior and modernize its appearance. Many of the banquet rooms and the bar lounge have already been modernized and there is more to come in the near future, such as a complete renovation of the dining hall. Michael continues, "The Hawthorne has been a premiere dining venue in central Connecticut, but times have changed, and new restaurants have opened up shop in the area. Our restaurant did not adapt with the changing times, and over the years people have forgotten about us. That’s why we’re making all these great improvements to the restaurant... so we can have people excited about coming out to see us again or for the first time."

The new menu features eclectic American cuisine and has been assembled by new Executive Chef Eric Baldridge, an experienced chef who spent four years working as the Executive Chef at Michael Jordan’s Steakhouse at the Mohegan Sun Casino. "We are now on the cutting edge in both our appearance and the cuisine we serve, but we still have a high regard for our history." Michael says. Their goal at The Hawthorne is to offer quality contemporary food at competitive prices while still staying true to their heritage of serving the best prime rib and lobster in the Connecticut area.

In addition to their commitment to their history for serving the best prime rib in the area, The Hawthorne is a venue for special occasions such as weddings and anniversaries with their banquet facility. They also host some of their own events, such as Girls Night Out on Thursdays, and on Saturday evenings they bring in some of the hottest and most sought after bands in the Connecticut area.
