Emergo Group, a medical device regulatory consulting firm with offices worldwide, has expanded its regional presence into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) through a strategic partnership with an established medical device consulting firm in Riyadh.

The new office in Saudi Arabia is Emergo Group’s third in the region. The company also maintains offices in Egypt and Israel.

Emergo Group’s new KSA services include medical device registration with the Saudi Food & Drug Authority, and in-country representation for companies with no local business presence in the KSA.

“We have seen a lot of interest from our clients in the Saudi Arabian market in the past few years,” explains Emad El Masry, Managing Director for Emergo Group’s Middle East business. “Healthcare spending is growing steadily and a new, transparent regulatory system makes the KSA an attractive new market for medical device firms. We are now in a position to help those firms expand into this growing market.”

The KSA market for medical devices has grown more robust and attractive over the past decade. Between 2005 and 2010, healthcare spending in the KSA has increased by 67%, according to data from the World Health Organization. Saudi authorities have also recently implemented a more formalized and transparent medical device regulatory system, providing a more consistent path to market for foreign manufacturers.

The consultancy continues to expand worldwide, opening several offices in Asia in 2012, with further plans to expand in South America later year and into 2013.
