Football: Norwich Holds On To Third In New England Division-III Poll

The Norwich University football team remains the No. 3 ranking in this week’s New England Division III Football poll.

The Cadets, who received 202 votes, rank behind 4-0 Salve Regina and 1-0 Amherst in the poll. Salve Regina took the top slot in the poll with 252 points and 20 first-place votes, while Amherst clinched the No. 2 spot with 216 points and five first-place votes.

Trinity was the only other school to earn a first-place vote this week, ranking fourth in New England and receiving 168 points. Framingham State, Western New England, Bridgewater State, Springfield, and Williams round out slots 5-9, while Endicott and Worcester State finished in a tie for No. 10.

The Cadets, who were idle this week, have won 10 of their last 11 games dating back to last year and finished the 2011 campaign ranked 10th in the poll. This marks the second-straight week that Norwich has earned the No. 3 slot in the poll.

Norwich returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 29 when it travels to Mt. Ida College for a 1:00 P.M. ECFC matchup.
