Let him hear who has ears with which to hear

In his book “A New Look at a Very Old Book: A Journey Back to the 1st Century” (published by Trafford Publishing), author and nuclear physicist-psychologist Robert E. Mayer offers readers an encyclopedic, theological analysis of eight sacred Scriptures.
The major discovery presented in “A New Look at a Very Old Book” is Mayer’s account of the issues in the original ordering of the 27 books of Jerome in the 5th century, which he suggests was dictated by the Roman Christian authorities. He rearranges the books into chronological order of authorship, allowing him to put the argument of the primacy of the doctrine under a new light. Backing up his efforts and ideas, Mayer says Christianity is a religion of behavior, not one of doctrinal orthodoxy.
An excerpt from “A New Look at a Very Old Book”:
“Mythology is all make-believe threaded with a few facts to make it appear to be real. However, it is never totally factual. Facts are one-dimensional. Myth is multidimensional: there’s the surface story, many deeper stories, hidden meanings and timelessness. A great Prophet was asked why he spoke in parables? He said, ‘To test the hearer’s comprehension’. ‘Let him hear who has ears with which to hear’. Let the person listening examine the other dimensions of the story! Now, wasn’t that a metaphorical reply about one’s mind being able to see and hear?”
Mayer hopes his book finds its way into the hand – as well as the hearts and minds – of readers looking for an open and critical outlook on this subject. He says, “I was inspired by the need for a modern treatise dedicated to enlightening the average Christian to a more personal awareness and profession of faith.”
