Sports clothing manufacturer Team Colours, has announced the winner of its kit design competition – held in celebration of a ‘monumental sporting summer’.
Back in the year 2000, when Team Colours was founded by Stanley and Rosemary Carter, the family business originally specialised in custom netball kits. Over the years, the Hertfordshire based firm expanded its service to provide bespoke leisurewear for a range of different sports. Now, after arguably the biggest summer for sport in UK history, Team Colours has gone back to its roots - revealing the winner of their netball kit design competition.
Netball squads were invited by Team Colours in July, to submit their own designs using the downloadable templates on its website. Patterns, logos, numbers, names and colour schemes can be fully customised online but the templates are also available to print – allowing customers to hand draw their ideas.
The winning entry was submitted by Katie Ballard of the Washingborough Imps. Team Colours created the custom kit using their sublimation service – enabling the manufacturers to transfer any pattern onto the fabric with precision. Such an intricate process means the arrangements are durable too and can be applied to any kit type.
A spokesperson for Team Colours commented:
‘After a monumental sporting summer, we wanted to encourage athletic interest even further and the competition was a nice way of doing that, while focusing on what we first started out making – netball kits.
‘All the entries were amazing and it just goes to show how creative our customers can be. Still, we could only pick one and Katie’s just had something special - it absolutely belongs on the court. We love receiving design ideas from teams all over the UK and we’re really pleased with how well the competition was received.’
Meanwhile, international netball is moving forward, with England defeating rivals Jamaica 63-51 last week in Birmingham and coming close to victory in a repeat tie at the ECHO Arena in Liverpool, on Monday night – losing by just five points to the Jamaicans. The goal for Team Colours is to keep that sporting momentum going and with its unique custom sportswear service, coupled with creative competitions like July’s kit design giveaway, that goal is more than realistic.
