Angie’s List, the national consumer review service, has surpassed 100,000 paid households in New York City
Angie’s List helps consumers find the best local service providers in more than 200 cities in the U.S. and Canada using a highly reliable, subscription, business model that lets members learn about how companies perform based on the prior experiences of their neighbors. The New York City market, which covers the greater metropolitan area, is the company’s largest membership base.
“We’re thrilled to mark this milestone in the Big Apple, which is a direct result of our corporate strategy of aggressively growing the membership base,” said Angie’s List Founder Angie Hicks. “We launched in the Midwest, but it’s clear that our focus on reliably connecting consumers to good service professionals works well anywhere there are consumers who need to find good professional help.”
More than 1.5 million households across the country subscribe to Angie’s List, which was founded in Columbus, Ohio, and offers consumer reviews on everything from home improvement to healthcare.
Unlike most consumer review sites, Angie’s List charges its members a subscription and prohibits anonymous reports. It places a high premium on accountability, requiring all members to affirm the validity of their reviews and encourages companies, free-of-charge, to monitor and respond to reviews. Companies are prohibited from submitting reports on themselves and their competitors. Angie’s List uses proprietary technology, human review and outside auditing to ensure report reliability and fairness.
Angie’s List helps consumers have happy transactions with local service professionals in more than 550 categories of service, ranging from home improvement to health care. More than 1.5 million paid households use Angie’s List to gain unlimited access to local ratings, exclusive discounts, the Angie’s List magazine, and the Angie’s List complaint resolution service.
