Since 1980 World Tourism Day has been held on 27th September at different venues around the world and themes are all aimed at tourism in many different lights to encourage progress. The theme this year is Tourism & Sustainable Energy and is to highlight the role of tourism and a brighter energy future by making energy more efficient and definitely more affordable. This is a theme that should touch and be understood by most of the world population as the crisis grows in the rising of energy prices. The main event is being held in Maspalomas, Spain.
As the tourism industry is continually on the increase, the event that is organized by UNWTO and the Government of Spain is aimed at showing environmental sustainability and green growth.
