The campaign will be making its’ next stop in Tacoma at LeMay America’s Car Museum on Sept 26. The event will take place at 7:00 p.m. and is open to the public; pre-registration is recommended. The museum is located at 2702 E. “D” St. Autograph, photograph opportunities and one-on-one interviews will be available following the event. Sleep Group Solutions, leaders in dental continuing education are pleased to provide attendees with free home sleep tests.

“The Tackle Sleep Apnea campaign has created quite a buzz with the retired NFL guys. I am looking forward to lending a hand to this campaign to boost the awareness of the dangers of sleep apnea,” Warren Moon said. According to David Gergen, President of the Pro-Players Health Alliance (PPHA), “My phone has been ringing off the hook from retired NFL legends trying to get tested and treated for sleep apnea.” Lincoln Kennedy, Jay Taylor, Roy Green and Ron Wolfely, are a few of the players that have recently reached out and wanted to become part of the campaign.

NFL players are choosing to become involved, because of former team-mates struggle(s) with the condition and their own personal experience. Former NFL players that will be in attendance and speaking on this “silent killer”, include: David Krieg, Warren Moon, Nesby Glasgow and Mark Walczak. Walczak became involved in the campaign due to the loss of a former team-mate and his best friend, Junior Seaus. “Walczak insisted on coming to event in efforts to speak about how the loss of Seaus changed his life and focus,” Gergen said. In addition, Walczak has personally suffered from sleep apnea and will be talking about his experience and treatment.

In addition to Former NFL legends, experts such as Dr. Marinkovich, D.D.S., A.B.D.S.M., will be speaking on how dentists are now part of the screening and treatment process for sleep apnea. "As a dentist I have helped many people with their oral conditions, making them healthier. I have never had such an impact on patients, as I have since I started treating Sleep Disordered Breathing problems," Dr. Marinkovich said. As part of the event, free in-home sleep tests will be offered to those pre-registrants, who qualify.

“It is recommended that those who are planning to attend, pre-register. As of today, we have over 300 registrants and know that the numbers will continue to climb,” Dana Sheets, Spokesperson for Dr. Marinkovich said. “We want to give everyone the opportunity to take part in the event and pre-registering can only help us to make proper accommodations’.” For registration questions or concerns, call Dana Sheets at 253-951-7656.
